Our
goal is to encourage people to "Get In The Game"!!
The ESSC offers well organized adult co-ed sports leagues
for all skill levels, from recreational to competitive.
Our players have the best time possible with our ‘fun
first, winning second’ attitude. We are one of
the few sports leagues in the city that allow people
to sign up as an individual, in a small group, or as
a full team. Our leagues are about getting out and having
a good time with old friends or new!
To
incorporate the social aspect of our club we have several
sponsor bars where players are encouraged to meet up
after their games to enjoy the atmosphere and drink
specials that are provided to our players. At the end
of each season we also put on a smashing party to wrap
up the leagues and to award all of the league champions
their T-shirts!! We have established sponsors that supply
top-quality equipment and prizing to our players.
ESSC
believes that encouraging good sporting behavior is
why our players join and remain in our leagues. Positive
word of mouth and enthusiasm towards our ‘fun
first attitude’ has allowed the ESSC to grow from
32 teams in our first season in 2004 to over 190 teams
in our Spring 2006 league! The ESSC now offers 10 different
sports in a variety of skill levels. Our leagues run
on a quarterly basis with the Fall and Winter seasons
focusing mainly on indoor sports and the Spring and
Summer seasons focusing on outdoor sports. For more
information on sports offered click on LEAGUES
above.
Spirit
of the Game - The ESSC encourages all players to play
with a 'fun first, winning second' attitude. Our leagues
are about getting out and having fun. Playing with 'ESSC
spirit' provides a non-threatening, fun environment
for all levels of players. Good sporting behavior is
defined as: behavioral tendencies of a person who can
take loss or defeat without complaint, and victory without
gloating, and who treats all opponents with fairness,
generosity, courtesy and respect. This is the attitude
we encourage all players to display on and off the playing
field!
The
ESSC also organizes tournaments and parties. These events
are open to all and are offered throughout the year.
Some of our most popular tournaments have included the
St. Patty’s Curling Funspiel, Sylvan Lake beach
tournament and the Dodgeball marathons!
The
ESSC always wants to hear suggestions on ways to improve
services and options for our players, feel free to contact
us with suggestions, questions or feedback.

| The
Club is run by Rob Gillespie, Lori Krause and a team of office
staff, games coordinators and event coordinators. We have a
small office where some of us work, but much of the work is
done out in the field. It's a lot of organizing - and we are
always looking for more helpers!!

DO
I NEED TO BE A "MEMBER" TO PARTICIPATE?
|
| Not
at all. Our "members" are anyone who chooses to
play in the leagues or has requested to be put on our mailing
list.
IS
THERE AN ANNUAL FEE? |
| No,
you "pay as you play". There is no charge to be
put on our mailing list or to check out our website! If you
want to play in a league, tournament or go to a special event,
then you just have to pay the applicable registration fee.
I'D
LIKE TO RECEIVE THE UPDATES. HOW CAN I GET ON THE MAILING
LIST? |
| On
our homepage you will find a link to our free membership,
which allows you to be on our mailing list.
WHAT
IF I DON'T HAVE A FULL TEAM, CAN I STILL GET IN? |
| Yes,
we will register individuals or small groups. As long as there
are enough other individuals registering for your league,
we can form a team. If your first choice doesn't work, we
can almost always get you into your second choice.
WHAT
HAPPENS WHEN A SEASON IS FINISHED? |
| You
have the option to re-register for the next season. Current
teams will get advance notice so they can register early and
save a spot. However, a new season provides an equal opportunity
for new players and teams to get into the leagues.
I
LIKE WHAT I AM SEEING, BUT MY SCHEDULE WON'T ALLOW ME TO PLAY
RIGHT NOW? |
|
The
best play is to get in our database so that you are notified
in advance of the next registration period.
I
HAVE A BUDDY WHO WANTS TO PLAY AS WELL, CAN WE GET ON THE
SAME TEAM? |
| Yes,
as long as you have registered early enough and there are
enough singles to make up a team, we always keep friends together
on the same team. The best bet is to register on the same
form.
WHERE
SHOULD I GO ON THE SITE TO GET MORE INFO OR TO GET REGISTERED?
|
|
Check
out the sport of your choice by clicking on LEAGUES at the
top of this page and then on the sport you are interested.
This page will cover the league information as well as a link
to register. |
