General Description
|
| Get active and have some fun this season by joining the ESSC’s
fastest growing sport: Dodgeball. Despite popular belief, this is not a
child’s game anymore! Get ready to dodge, dip, dive, and duck while meeting
other ESSC members in one of our most social sports. The beauty is that
anyone can play Dodgeball, and new players and teams pick up the skills and
strategy quickly! There are also various Dodgeball Tourneys throughout the
year where you can sharpen your skills. It’s a 6 on 6 game, with a minimum of
two females on the court at all times. We offer Really Recreational,
Recreational, Recreational Plus, and Intermediate divisions. All games have a
Coordinator present but you are expected to call your own fouls and be
responsible for your own play. We encourage you to play with a ‘fun-first’
attitude at our various medium sized school gyms throughout the city. After
your game, meet-up with your teammates and other ESSC players while enjoying
exclusive specials at one of our many Sponsor Bars around
Edmonton. |
|
Who Can Play?
|
| Adults aged 18 and older may join any of our Dodgeball Leagues.
We welcome full teams, small groups (5 or more players but not a full team),
friends (2-4 players) and individual registrations. Small groups, friends and
individual registrations are combined with other similar registrants to form
a team that remains together for the duration of the season. |

DIVISION DESCRIPTIONS
|
|
Division
|
Description |
Really
Recreational |
This
is a division where you need to come with an open mind and a sense of humor.
Players in this league are new to the sport and want to come out and throw
the ball around for fun. Wins and losses do not count in this league.
Standings are based on sportsmanship points given to one another and from the
GC. At the end of the season there will be a Dodgarama for two weeks that is
full of costumes, games, and fun. The winner of the division is decided on by
vote. Teams vote on the most fun, sportsmanlike, and outgoing teams. |
Recreational |
If
you've played Dodgeball before or want to join a league where wins and losses
count, this is the league for you! Players in this league can throw a
dodgeball somewhat accurately and feel confident in their dodging abilities.
Teams that have natural athletes will do well in this division. |
Recreational Plus |
If you have a few seasons under your
belt, and finished in the top half of the standings
in Recreational then this is the league you should play in. Teams in
this division will show a higher level of skill and experience than the
average recreational team. You may see an occasional organized attack at this
level, in addition to an increase in teamwork.
|
Intermediate |
Generally
this division sees teams that have played together for numerous seasons.
Teams are able to work together to form 'organized attacks' on their
opponents. If your team is highly skilled than this is the league for you.
Just like all levels, sportsmanship is still very important in this division. |
The
above divisions are created based on skill level and not on competitive
behaviour. All SSC players are expected to play with a ‘fun-first, winning
second’ attitude. The SSC may move your team up or down a division based on
seasonal results. |

an ESSC Games Coordinator (GC) present. GC’s are responsible
for monitoring the game, tracking time, keeping score and reporting
the scores to the ESSC office. They are not trained referees
and will only calls fouls if the teams are not doing so themselves. |
Additional Information
|
Players Meetings: The ESSC may or may not, depending on the season, host mandatory Players Meetings and/or require new Team Captains and individuals to complete an online Player Questionnaire. This will be specified on the registration form. |
Waiver: All players are expected to complete
a waiver prior to playing in any ESSC league or event. One waiver
per player, per season is sufficient. To complete the waiver,
