ESSC FLOOR HOCKEY INFORMATION

REGISTRATION DEADLINE
The registration deadline for the Fall 2010 season is Thursday, September 16. Prior to this date, all registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. After September 16th, a list of remaining availability will be posted to the homepage of the website.

General Description

Floor Hockey is one of the ESSC’s most popular sports and, with limited team spots available, always sells out quickly! Although it is a fast-paced, competitive sport, the ESSC emphasizes a ‘fun-first’ attitude. This season you can sharpen your skills, broaden your knowledge and have a great time with your team in one of our Floor Hockey leagues. After your game, meet up with your teammates and other ESSC players to enjoy exclusive specials at one of our many Sponsor Bars around Edmonton!

Player Testimonial: "SSC Floor Hockey has opened up many opportunities for me. Playing Floor Hockey is a great way to get exercise on a weekly basis, plus I also expanded my social circles, found job opportunities and participated in team building exercises with work colleagues. Not to mention the great beer specials available after the game!" – Mandy, Tuesday Floor Hockey

Who Can Play?

The ESSC is an adult league only. All players must be 18 years of age or older before they participate in any ESSC league or event. We accept all levels of skill and experience by offering a wide range of divisions. We welcome full team, small group, individual and substitute registrations.

 DIVISION DESCRIPTIONS

Division

                                                       Description

Recreational

For teams that may have some skilled individual players, but that as a whole has little hockey experience. Teams will vary in ability to pass, shoot and goal tend. This division places a large emphasis on having fun.

Recreational Plus

For teams/players that have played some form of hockey in the past. They will be able to pass, shoot and goal tend with more skill and accuracy. This division is usually fast-paced with a lot of action.

Intermediate

For teams that have a lot of hockey experience or are too good to play in the Recreational Plus division. Teams will have the ability to form organized plays and have skilled offensive, defensive and goaltending players.

The above divisions are created based on skill level and not on competitive behaviour. All SSC players are expected to play with a ‘fun-first, winning second’ attitude. The SSC may move your team up or down a division based on seasonal results.

Calling the Shots

All players are expected to be on time, call their own fouls and abide by ESSC rules and polices. Each Floor Hockey game also has an ESSC Games Coordinator (GC) present. GC’s are responsible for monitoring the game, tracking time, keeping score and reporting the scores to the ESSC office. They are not trained referees and will only calls fouls if the teams are not doing so themselves.

Additional Information

Players Meetings: The ESSC may or may not, depending on the season, host mandatory Player's Meetings and/or require that new Team Captains and individuals complete an online Player Questionnaire. This will be specified on the registration form.

Waiver: All players are expected to complete a waiver prior to playing in any ESSC league or event. One waiver per player, per season is sufficient. To complete the waiver, click here.

Cancellation Policy: In order to receive a full refund, cancellations must be submitted 2 business days prior to the registration deadline applicable to that season. After this time, no player or team will be eligible for a full or partial refund or credit.
Default Policy for Team Registrations:
You agree to supply a $50 default fee each time your team does not meet minimum player requirements at game time. If the default fee is not paid before the following week's game, you will be given an automatic loss for that game and for all games thereafter until the fee is paid. If your team defaults a second time, your status in the league will be under review. The ESSC does not profit from default fees; any team defaulted against is automatically refunded the applicable default fee onto the credit card which was used to register the team.
