It doesn't matter what sport you're playing, everyone is welcome to register for our events.
 

Spring 2008 Registration Opens Thursday, February 21st @ 1 am.

ABOUT THE SPORT
Bump, set and spike your way into the ESSC hard court adult volleyball leagues. Volleyball is a very social sport and alot of fun to play!

 

  WHO CAN PLAY?
Adults 18+ may join our co-ed volleyball leagues. We welcome full teams, small groups (5 or more players but not a full team), friends (2-4 players) and individual registrations. Small group, friends and individual registrations are combined with other similiar registrants to form a team that remains together for the duration of the season. Click here for more info.
 
  ESSC LEAGUE DETAILS

Start Date: Spring 2008 leagues start the week of April 13th.
Players: 6 players, including at least 2 females.
Cost: $410/team. $75/player for individuals & friend registrations (2-4 players). $60/player for small group registrations (5-8 players but not a full team). 
Gyms: Private and public gyms throughout Edmonton
Game Times: Weeknight start times range between 6:00pm-10:00pm.
Sunday start times may be between 8:00am-10:00pm.
Schedules: To be posted to the website within 48 hours of your first game. Games may be scheduled on long weekends or holidays based on gym rentals.
Equipment: The facilities will provide the nets and standards which the players will set-up and take down at each night. The ESSC will provide volleyballs and scorecards. There will also be an ESSC Event Coordinator (EC) to help organize the games at the gym. See JOBS more information on becoming an EC.

 

 



  SPRING 2008 LEAGUE NIGHTS AND SKILL LEVELS


NIGHT
LEVEL DESCRIPTION
Sunday
Intermediate Plus   All players must be able to pass with some accuracy, otherwise you should register for intermediate or recreational. This level will start seeing 3 hits attempted each possession with the start of organized attacks. Team Goal: Let's get it over the net in a organized 3 hit strategy. If that falls through, place it well in the other court.
Sunday
Intermediate
For novice players and teams. Some bumping and setting. Some hitting and blocking. Will start seeing three hits although ball control issues will not often result in strong or organized attack. Team Goal: Get it over net but let's try doing it with 3 hits if we can.
Monday
Recreational
For new players or teams with new players. Little bumping and setting. Will not see 3 hits. No hard hitting allowed. Team Goal: Get it over the net - it doesn't matter how!
Monday
Intermediate For novice players and teams. Some bumping and setting. Some hitting and blocking. Will start seeing three hits although ball contol issues will not often result in strong or organized attack. Team Goal: Get it over net but let's try doing it with 3 hits if we can.
Tuesday
Intermediate Plus

Tuesday Comp
New Format
For experienced players. Good level of volleyball. All players are solid and have an advanced skill sets. Good teamwork. This level will see teams who play with organization of attacks. Team Goal: 3 hits each time in an organized, well-controlled attack.
Wednesday Intermediate Plus All players must be able to pass with some accuracy, otherwise you should register for intermediate or recreational. This level will start seeing 3 hits attempted each possession with the start of organized attacks. Team Goal: Let's get it over the net in a organized 3 hit strategy. If that falls through, place it well in the other court.
Wednesday Intermediate

**New Format**
Teams play one opponent per night in a best of 5 match with rally point to 25. Matches are expected to last approximately 1.5 - 2 hours. Teams play full court games in this format.

 



 

HOW DO I REGISTER?
ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST BE DONE ONLINE SO THAT FORMS CAN BE PROCESSED IN THE ORDER THEY ARE RECEIVED.

WAIVER
All players must fill out a Waiver before playing in the ESSC. The waiver must be submitted as soon as your spot in the league has been confirmed. Waivers must be filled out each season that a person plays with the ESSC.
