DIVISION
DESCRIPTIONS
|
Division
|
Description |
Recreational
|
For
teams that may have some skilled individual players, but that
as a whole has little volleyball experience.
There is a low skill set for bumping and setting and will not
often see 3 hits. No hard hitting allowed. Team Goal: Get it over
the net - it doesn't matter how! |
Intermediate |
This
division is for teams or players that have mixed skill level.
Three hits is the goal, with decent ball control while bumping
or setting. Expect to see some hitting and blocking, although
hard hitting is not encouraged and you will not typically see
strong or organized attacks. Team goal: try to have 3
hits on every play. |
Intermediate Plus |
This
division is for teams or players that are able to pass with
accuracy and have the ability to set organized attacks.
Players rotate and play set positions on the court and have
a skilled setter. This level will see 3 hits each possession
with a strong attack game. |
Competitive |
This
division is for teams or players that are highly skilled and
have a lot of experience playing organized volleyball.
This is a fast-paced division where you will see organized attacks,
plays, and positional players. Skilled setters are able
to run plays for shoot sets, back-row attacks, and other types
of plays. Players must be able to pass off of hard serves
accurately to the setter in this division. |
The
above divisions are created based on skill level and not on competitive
behaviour. All SSC players are expected to play with a ‘fun-first, winning
second’ attitude. The SSC may move your team up or down a division based on
seasonal results. |

to the gym for the 4 teams playing there. For Single Opponent
Volleyball, the Team Captain is responsible for putting down a $60 refundable deposit and picking up their
equipment (1 volleyball, 1 scoreboard, & 3 score clips) from
the office. All equipment must be
returned at the end of the season. |

The Event Coordinator will enter the scores for all teams at their gym in Double Opponent Volleyball. Team Captains

for Single Opponent Volleyball. |
Additional Information
|
Players Meetings: There are no players meetings for Double Opponent
Indoor Volleyball leagues. Please ensure you read the
rules and policies thoroughly before the start of the season. Single Opponent Volleyball captains who haven't captained Single Opponent Volleyball in the past year, as well as individuals, will be required, depending on the season, to either complete an online Player Questionnaire or attend a Player's Meeting. This will be specified on the registration form. |
Waiver: All players are expected to complete
a waiver prior to playing in any ESSC league or event. One waiver
per player, per season is sufficient. To complete the waiver,
| Reporting Scores: In Double Opponent leagues, you must report the score at your gym to the EC by writing it on the scoresheet. The EC will then submit the scores to the Club. In Single Opponent leagues, one player from each team, typically the captain, is responsible for reporting the game scores to the ESSC no later than 5:00pm the day after each game. Instructions on where and how to report scores can be found on the Player Info page. |
Gym Permits: A permit must be brought to all
gyms for each Volleyball game. For Double Opponent Volleyball
– the Event Coordinator is responsible for bringing the
permit to the gym. For Single Opponent Volleyball, the
Team Captain must bring the permit to the gym. All
permits will be provided to the Event Coordinators Team
Captains. |
| Cancellation Policy: In order to receive a full refund, cancellations must be submitted 2 business days prior to the registration deadline applicable to that season. After this time, no player or team will be eligible for a full or partial refund or credit. |
Default Policy for Team Registrations:
You agree to supply a $25/match default fee each time your team does not meet minimum player requirements at game time. If the default fee is not paid before the following week's matches, you will be given an automatic loss for those matches and for all matches thereafter until the fee is paid. If your team defaults a second week, your status in the league will be under review. The ESSC does not profit from default fees; any team defaulted against is automatically refunded the applicable default fee onto the credit card which was used to register the team.
