General Overview:
This is an exciting full-time career opportunity. The ESSC is Edmonton’s largest provider of adult recreational sports leagues, tournaments and events. The Operations and Events Manager will have a big impact on the success of our programs. The two main focuses will be:

1. Plan and organize day-to-day operations at the ESSC

2. Hire, train and manage large contingent of field Games Coordinators

Start date: June 2008

Completion date: Permanent position

Hours: Full-time hours Monday – Friday. Occasional weeknight or weekend work.

Rate of pay: $42,000-$46,000, plus bonuses and benefits
* Semi-annual performance evaluations facilitate growth in responsibilities and compensation


Responsibilities:

Games Coordinators:
- Hire team of GCs prior to each season
- Train team via classroom sessions and at the gyms
- Create weekly schedule of shifts, communicate to GCs
, manage for 100% shift fulfillment
- Lead your team via in-field coaching, weekly Scorekeeper emails and fun events
- Visit GC's during CSSC games
- Network with players to recruit GC's

Staff Leader:
- Role model excellent customer service for the office staff
- Ensure that all items on Seasonal and Annual planners are completed on time
- Delegate to staff and follow-up, on Seasonal and Annual items
- Help train and manage office and casual field staff
- Coordinate team goals and allocation of staff resources
- Help plan and lead weekly staff meetings

Manage Programs:
- Plan and implement League pricing, dates and sports offered for each new season
- Research and develop new league offerings
- Direct involvement with City of Edmonton and private facilities for field and gym rentals
- Coordinate with suppliers for ESSC clothing, software development, facility rentals, and more
- Edit and update ESSC website on a regular basis (training provided)
- Direct collaboration with the Club Director on potential improvements and changes to ESSC policies and procedures

Experience:
- University degree
- A leadership or management role in a previous work experience is preferred (particularly in an office environment)
- High level of computer competence
