Only 2 more Weeks 'til the Fall Season!

The clock is counting down to the start of the Fall Season. With all of our Summer leagues wrapping up, now is certainly the time to start thinking about getting your team in for another tour of duty, or perhaps picking up some new recruits and starting a brand new squad. We have also opened up registration for all of our tournaments this Fall, including Volleyball, Dodgeball, Floor Hockey and Basketball.

Remember to get those league registrations in before September 21st at 4pm or you will be sitting on the wrong side of a 10% late fee.

Pimped our Ride. Check out the ESSC van at events around the city.

Now Hiring

The ESSC is still looking for new applicants for the following positions:

Marketing Manager – I am looking for someone that is energetic, intelligent and eager to learn. The successful applicant will be willing to work hard (often more than 40 hours a week) and must want to be out meeting the players and enhancing their experience with the Club. This position has the potential to be very rewarding, the Marketing Manager will grow into a role whereby he or she decides upon and manages all special event and marketing tactics that the ESSC undertakes. Click Here for more information.

Sports Administrator – I need someone that has a knack for organization and wants to make our volunteers (EC’s) WANT to come back season after season. The successful applicant will recruit, train, and manage our entire Event Coordinator program (approx 40-50 volunteers / season), as well as help in day to day operations at the ESSC such as handling registrations, processing standings and providing exceptional customer service. The successful applicant must be very detail oriented; if you are not, this is not a good fit for you. Click Here for more information.

If you or someone you know fits the description, please apply by following the online instructions. I have already received almost 100 applications between the two positions, so if you want a chance to work here don’t wait too long to apply!

Team GC - Are you Game?

Team GC is a unique group of part-time employees who are dedicated sports enthusiasts, and want to take their participation with the Club to the next level. Whether you want to GET PAID to GET IN THE ACTION, or you want to meet new friends, this is the perfect opportunity!

Here is what a one GC had to say about becoming a GC:
“When I first moved to Edmonton it was hard to meet new people and to find part time work that really works around a University school schedule. The ESSC ended up being a great place for me to work and it satisfied my two greatest needs at the time; flexibility and interaction with others.” – Missy

GC’s are an integral part of the Club and all Floor Hockey, Basketball, Soccer, and Dodgeball leagues. If you are outgoing, confidant, reliable, organized, and a sports enthusiast, this is the place to be! As a GC you will develop your leadership skills, learn more about the Club, and meet a lot of great people.

If you don’t believe how great this opportunity is check out what this GC had to say:
“If you are passionate about the sport(s) you GC then it won't even seem like work. The fact that The Sports Club has regular parties and gives you a lot of free stuff isn't bad either!” – Evan

We are looking to stack our team for the Fall Season, which begins September 26th. Interviews are ongoing, so if you are interested in this exciting opportunity, please Click Here!

There is nothing quite like the feeling of stepping on the court as a unified team in matching colors. Start that new team off right by being able to put on that jersey with your team for game one. Now is the time to order! We will help to make your vision a reality whether you have a design sketched out and just need to clean it up or if you are starting from scratch. We will help you through all stages of the team jersey project.

Teams of the Week

Week 3 Winners

Multiple Scoregasms - This is our first year playing dodgeball and we’ve all instantly fell in love with it and I’m sure will be marrying and making babies with it in no time…I mean…playing it for years to come. It was an idea we had to stay active and do something fun together and we’re so glad we did. It’s a competitive sport, but way too much fun to take too seriously or get frustrated at (with the exception of Bryn and Kyle). Go Team!

View Full Team Profile - click here (it is worth it)

Week 4 Winners

Pink Pajamaz -
We played together as a singles team in Spring and decided to form the team we have right now because we got along and played well together. We spend time together outside of dodgeball and are becoming good friends. We love pink and pajamas and we love to hang out together!

Week 5 Winners
The ProStars have been playing together with the ESSC in almost every season since 2005. Starting first in Slo-Pitch and then moving to floor hockey with a season of basketball and volleyball in the mix. The ProStars have come a long way since going winless in our very first floor hockey season, usually getting mercied by half-time. Maintaining our fun-first attitude we have stayed in the Rec divisions and finished last season in second place in Rec B, our best finish to date. We hope to continue to have fun in the ESSC for years to come, and won't be upset if we win a t-shirt along the way. :)

Week 6 Winners
The Planeteers, were nominated for their first Lady Bing Award this season. There are 7 players on the team and we play in the intermediate indoor volleyball league.
