Hi! I am excited to be joining the club on a full time basis. I joined the club as a player in the summer season of 2006, and have been involved as a player, GC, or helper ever since. I have a bachelor of Education with a physical education major and math minor from the U of A, and am halfway through a Masters of Arts through Royal Roads University (you get bonus points if you know where that is).

Over the past six months I have been working as a “Field Organizer” with the Obama campaign, and am looking forward to use some of the skills and experience I gained there to help grow the club into the community here in Edmonton. My favorite league sports are Soccer (preferably outdoor) and Ultimate, so give me a call if you are looking for a player, want to talk politics, or have ideas on ways
we can improve the operations side of the club!

Battle of Alberta V: Sylvan Lake Beach Volleyball

The 5th round of the SSC Battle of Alberta tournament series has come to a close, and a new winner has been crowned. The series has been even at 2 wins apiece for Edmonton and Calgary, after Calgary claimed the indoor volleyball title in Red Deer this winter.

The stage was set with some of the most spectacular weather we have seen all year, and the competition was perhaps the closest in Battle of Alberta history. The division winners were split across the board. Beach You from Edmonton took the top division while Mob Wars and Team Hasselhoff from Calgary took divisions 2 and 3 respectively. Edmonton's Yaks took the div 4 title.
Despite splitting the winners Calgary held a 5 point edge over Edmonton going into the bar-game round as their record against Edmonton was better in round robin play.

As with all Battle of Alberta events the winner would not be crowned until at least one game of tippy cups was played. Edmonton did not disappoint as they came out in full force at the Pier 7 after party. Edmonton swept the floor with Calgary winning all the competitions at the bar, but it was not enough to overcome the lead that Calgary had established earlier.

The final score was 27-26 for Calgary. This puts Calgary in the lead for the time being, but we will have a chance to get sweet revenge at Sylvan on September 6th in another round of Beach Volleyball.

Summer Season Starts: The week of July 6th.

Registered Teams: There are over 375 teams already registered and we are over 80% sold out.

Registration Deadline: There is no formal deadline but many of the leagues will be sold out within the next few days...

Sold Out Leagues: We wanted to get this reminder out to you before any of the leagues were sold out but some of them filled up too fast! Below is a list of the few that are full and a few that are very close to being full

Beach Volleyball
ALL Beach Volleyball Leagues are SOLD OUT except the following:
Sunday Rec 6s has room for 2 males
Sunday Int 6s has room for 2 females and 1 male
Thurs Rec 6s has room for 2 full teams OR 1 full team and 5 females or males

Flag Football
All nights and divisions have room for at least one full team and individuals.

Floor Hockey
Thursday Floor Hockey is sold out!
Sunday and Tuesday still have room for at least one more registration (with a strong need for individual girls).

Slo-Pitch
Wednesday Slo-pitch is sold out!
All other nights and divisions have room for at least one full team and individuals.
