Sleeman Slo-Pitch Tournament Wrap up
We had amazing weather for our second and final Slo-Pitch tournament of the season this past weekend as 12 teams joined us for some fun in the sun, some beverages and a bit of ball. Thanks to all the teams that came out and congratulations to our tournaments champs the Smokin’ Bats and The Glory Stompers. Smokin’ Bats were strong all through the weekend, eventually making their way to the Division A final, while The Glory Stompers took their fourth place seeding to the B finals and won!

We also ran a home run derby for both the A and B divisions. Div A kicked things off with 4 players who homered in their first 3 hits but it was James from the Fraggles who launched 2 dingers in the opening round to take the title. Justin from the Dirtbaggers hit 2 consecutive homers in the consolation round to take 2nd.
Div B went a bit slower but it was Todd from Hydro-Flo Hurricanes who went yard on his second hit to pull away from the pack and take the B derby.

‘Tis the season…

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has”

The staff at the ESSC have long felt fortunate to live in such an amazing city, and to be able to offer such a fun service. We feel that after years and years of unrivaled growth, we are at a place where we can find a way to start giving back.

“But isn’t this a sports club?” you say…”why would I want to think about getting involved in my community! I just wanted to run around then drink beer at one of your fabulous sponsor bars!” And I agree, those are fun and exciting things that the ESSC has been promoting for five years now. We’re about to start moving into something a little bit different.

Our organization brings together hundreds of people every night. Wouldn’t it be great if we could take some of this energy and use it to make our city better? What if we could get together to clean up an inner city park? Or help to build a home for someone that needs it? Or raised money for any of the worthy charities that desperately need help?

In the coming months we are going to start looking for ways to make a positive impact in the community that has helped us to offer such a fun program. In the past year I was fortunate enough to be able to go work on the Obama campaign in the states. Watching people who had never been involved before, never taken a leadership role step up and work to what they saw as making a positive difference in their community was inspiring. This kind of empowerment is something that we have the capability for, it can take as little as a few hours and the difference we can make is tremendous.

If you know of an organization or group that needs our help, feel free to contact me. And, if you get an email inviting you to come help us make a difference, step up! This is your opportunity to make the world just a tiny little bit better.

Get The Word out Contest
The ESSC's newest contest asks our players: How have you helped to get the word out? The ESSC just started out in 2004 and since then we have grown to host over 450 teams in 11 different activities. Alot of that success can be attributed to our great, loyal players. Now it is our chance to pay you back. We will be handing out prizes each month for the most creative recruitment methods. It doesn't have to be elaborate and can be as simple as starting a team Facebook group or proudly wearing a league champ shirt. Just tell us your story and you will be entered into the contest for your chance to win. Click here to enter.
