The Edmonton Sport & Social Club (ESSC) does more than meet Edmontonians’ sport and social needs. The ESSC is a community-minded organization that strives to support local charities, groups and causes. Fundraisers, gift cards, monetary support, and equipment and clothing donations are just a few of the ways the ESSC has committed to giving back not only to sport, but to the rest of the community as well.
Our Mission: The ESSC will support the local community and help others. The Club will assist organizations that have similar values and/or a passion for making Edmonton a better City for everyone to call home. As well, the ESSC will lead by example and promote ecological awareness in order to help reduce the impact on the environment.
Mount Carmel Bible College is a post-secondary institution located in Edmonton. The ESSC loaned 200 flag football flags and 100 belts to run a youth flag football tournament.
The Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta puts on an annual Law Show, with proceeds all going towards a charity of their choice. The ESSC donated a silent auction prize package for their fundraiser for WIN House.
The Breast Cancer Society of Canada, (BCSC) is a registered, national non-profit charity dedicated to saving lives through breast cancer research. The ESSC made a cash donation in name for a player diagnosed with breast cancer.
The Capital Junior Hockey League is an Edmonton based organization that runs hockey leagues for youth. The ESSC donated a silent auction prize package for their fundraiser for the Junior B team.
Razz Ma Berries is a local dance troupe which provides the community with cabaret and burlesque shows. The ESSC donated a silent auction prize package for their fundraiser to raise money for their troupe.
The Southeast Edmonton Recreation Association (S.E.E.R.A) provides recreational hockey in the South Edmonton Area. The ESSC donated a silent auction prize package for their fundraiser to raise money for the season.
JDRF is a global leader in the search for an end to type 1 diabetes (T1D), through both research funding and advocacy. The ESSC donated a silent auction prize package for their gala fundraiser to raise money for diabetes research.
The ESSC made a cash donation to a long-time player fundraising for their newborn baby diagnosed with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID).
Paws In Need Animal Rescue Society is a small, non-profit, animal rescue in the Edmonton and Calgary area. The ESSC donated a silent auction prize package for their fundraiser to raise money for veterinary services and pet food.
Defence Construction Canada runs an annual golf tournament, with proceeds all going towards a charity of their choice. The ESSC donated a silent auction prize package for their fundraiser for United Way.
Huddle Up runs events for suicide prevention awareness and recommends resources to prevent suicide and help people it affects. The ESSC donated a silent auction prize package for their fundraiser to raise money for their initiatives.
GoodLife Kids Foundation fosters supportive environments to help kids with intellectual disabilities and autism thrive through physical activity and fitness. The ESSC donated a silent auction prize package for their fundraiser to raise money for their initiatives.
The MS Bike Tour raises money for Multiple Sclerosis research and services for Canadians affected by MS. The ESSC donated a silent auction prize package for their fundraiser to raise money for their initiatives.
Big Gifts for Little Lives is an annual 5k run/walk presented by the Heritage Law Offices of Edmonton for the benefit of a chosen beneficiary. The ESSC made a cash donation for their fundraiser for the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation.
The Campus Food Bank helps purchase non-perishables, perishables, and toiletries for over 2500 students they serve. The ESSC sponsored a court at their Power Play Cup, which raised money for their initiatives.
The Edmonton Humane Society enriches the lives of people and companion animals through animal sheltering, programs and services, and community engagement. The ESSC donated a silent auction prize package for their fundraiser to raise money for their initiatives.

The Sport and Social Club (SSC) recognizes that racism, discrimination, harassment, bullying, and violence is harmful to our community, not only for the group(s) targeted, but for all SSC participants. Did you know?! All proceeds from our Drop-In Sports programs are donated to varies charities, communities and organizations in our city/province.

In 2021, we split the proceeds and donated them to the following organizations:
- Legacy of Hope Foundation, an Indigenous-led charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for more than 19 years.
- Fruit Loop, an Edmonton-based, volunteer-led non-profit that provides inclusive events, dynamic social media, and special initiatives for Alberta's LGBTQ2S+ community.
2022 - $6,547
In 2022, we donated the full proceeds to the Ukrainian Canadian Social Services, to support Ukrainian refugees living in Edmonton.

The need for blood is constant. Over 100,000 new blood donors are needed every year to ensure patients in Canada have access to lifesaving blood and blood products, where and when they need them. You can make a meaningful difference for those who live, work, study and play in your communities and across Canada.
Folks, please meet the SSC Boys of Movember! These handsome fellas shaved down and grew the ultimate cookie dusters this year, to raise awareness for prostate and testicular cancer, as well as men's mental health and suicide prevention. In total, they raised $2,050 for the cause in Nov 2022! We want to give a huge shout-out to the fellas who participated in raising money and awareness, and to all of those who donated.
