Ball Hockey Rule Updates

Thursday, October 1, 2020

Are you ready to tickle some twine while wearing your hockey gloves? Do you hate being glued to your small crease area? Well, have no fear, your rule updates are here! Thanks to those who completed our most recent Ball Hockey Survey, sent out a few months ago. We analyzed every result and are thrilled to launch a multitude of new and exciting changes to our Ball Hockey leagues, starting this Fall.

Why Legends? A Player’s Perspective.

Wednesday, March 13, 2019

As both a longtime player and longtime employee of the Sport & Social Club, I am a huge advocate of our Legends Leagues. My advocacy is founded on the primary belief that as you age, you change. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just part of life… your priorities change and your time becomes even more precious than it used to be. It’s hard to find time to stay active and social as your life is full with family, work, your home, your yard, your dog, chiro, massage, acupuncture, etc. and staying out to all hours of the night (or anytime past 10:00pm) just isn’t feasible anymore! I get it.

Why Playing as an Indy Rocks!

Wednesday, November 7, 2018

One of the most common misconceptions people have about our ‘Sports League’ is that they are out of luck if they can’t register with a full team - that’s not true at all! Here at the Club we are happy to offer an opportunity to register as an Individual (Indy) and the Club does the heavy lifting of assembling a team for you.

The GC is Not a Referee

Wednesday, November 1, 2017

Whether you are a veteran ESSCer or are new to the Club, you know that all of our leagues are self-officiated. Yes, we run our leagues this way on purpose, and no, it’s not because we don’t want to deal with the added cost of a referee.

The ESSC is above all a fun-first league that focuses on “play”; namely, “adult play.” We always position ourselves in this way and we truly believe in our fun-first, winning-second philosophy. We also believe that most adults can regulate themselves appropriately in play, so why give someone a babysitter when they don’t need it?
