When it comes to calculating points for, points against, and point differentials for teams in a single sport league, it’s pretty straight forward. The scores are simply reported, with no alterations made to account for much larger or much smaller scores in other games throughout the season. But when it comes to calculating those same values for teams in a standard Multi-Sport league, it’s a bit more complicated.

With our standard Multi-Sport leagues, there is a wide range of sports you play during the season. We have relatively low scoring sports like Soccer and Dodgeball, combined with high scoring sports like Basketball and Flag Football. Now how does one make sure that at the end of a season, the point differentials aren’t skewed by certain sports? Let me introduce you to a little thing we like to call ‘Factoring’.

Factoring is done to account for differences in scores in our standard Multi-Sport leagues. For sports where the mercy score is 20-0 or higher, we divide the original score by 3. Sports where factoring is applied include:

  • Basketball
  • Flag Football
  • Australian Rules Football

One other sport that undergoes a score reporting tweak in standard Multi-Sport leagues is Volleyball. The scores in Volleyball are reported in terms of the amount of sets won. For example, if one team won 2 sets and their opponent won 1 set, the score would be reported as 2-1.

With this new found knowledge of score reporting, you are now ready to become a score reporting master within SSC Standard Multi-Sport leagues! Now I know what you are thinking… What about the score reporting for Multi-Sport 2’s leagues? No need to worry, as this is the first of two articles that we will be composing with regards to score reporting in our Multi Sport Leagues. Stay tuned for Part Deux, coming March 2018!
