The ESSC was founded in 2004 and if you were say, 22 years old and started playing with us then, you would be 35 years old now. Great math, right? Well this is a reality for a lot of our players and although our leagues have grown so much in these past 13 years, we’ve also watched as a lot of our players have thrown in the towel.
We understand that many things change as you get older and that sports might not be your #1 priority anymore. That, coupled with a variety of feedback we have received from our players, is why this league was created. We know that teachers are not interested in playing against their freshly-18 year old students and individual registrants want to be on teams with people that they have more in common with. Then of course, we’ve also had teams tell us that they just want to take it easy out there and can’t keep up with those 19 year olds that can play a full game of Floor Hockey without any subs. You know who you are!
This is where our Legends 35+ League comes in. The ESSC is very proud to be offering Edmonton’s first and only co-ed league geared towards meeting the needs of players 35 years old and up. The goal is to bring 35+ players and teams together for the opportunity to play ‘Sports for Life’!
This will give you the opportunity to play with people you will likely relate to a bit more and, at the same time, enjoy a truly recreational experience. As an added bonus, your body won’t have to work as hard to keep up and that will lower the likelihood of injury; not that coming into work with a sprained ankle from volleyball doesn’t earn you some brownie points!
This Summer, we’re offering Recreational Legends 35+ Slo-Pitch Leagues on Thursday evenings. You can register a full team or as an individual and we’ll pair you up with other ESSC Legends! This 8-week league starts on July 13th and the deadline to register is on June 14th.
