It’s a common question that you hear all the time when you tell someone you’ve joined a Squash league…”Oh is that like Racquetball?” Whether or not you cringe when you hear the name of Squash’s nemesis or not, you still have to answer the question. Here are some easy replies for you to use next time you are faced with this daunting question.

Equipment is the biggest difference; Racquetball uses a larger ball with more bounce, and a larger racquet. Adding to this, a Racquetball court is larger than a Squash court. The rules of Racquetball are a hybrid between Tennis and Handball, which makes them quite different from Squash; the biggest difference being that in the enclosed court, every surface is live. Also, in Racquetball you must bounce the ball before hitting it on a serve, points are only awarded to the server, and games go to 15 points.

Hopefully this will help the next time you are faced with the dreaded question mentioned above. To learn more about ESSC Squash leagues, click HERE.
