Edmonton is not exactly a city that comes to mind when someone mentions the word beach. However, Alberta is a resourceful and ingenious province and we Albertans are go-getters and risk takers. So, we brought the beach to Edmonton!

In 2011, the ESSC approached Lendrum Athletic Park about creating a premier space in Edmonton for Beach Volleyball. Following the model that the Calgary Sport & Social Club had used when building their courts, the ESSC quickly constructed 4 brand new beach courts at Lendrum. These courts will always be the home of ESSC Beach Volleyball.

There have been a number of other beach courts used by the ESSC in the past 11 years, including Blue Quill, Garneau, John Fry, and Malmo. Some of these facilities are still used for incredibly popular Beach Volleyball seasons. However, the time and care put into the construction of the Lendrum courts will always make them special to ESSC staff and players.

Have fun out there.
