Why Legends? A Player’s Perspective.

As both a longtime player and longtime employee of the Sport & Social Club, I am a huge advocate of our Legends Leagues. My advocacy is founded on the primary belief that as you age, you change. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just part of life… your priorities change and your time becomes even more precious than it used to be. It’s hard to find time to stay active and social as your life is full with family, work, your home, your yard, your dog, chiro, massage, acupuncture, etc. and staying out to all hours of the night (or anytime past 10:00pm) just isn’t feasible anymore! I get it.

However, there is a way to have it all and it’s amazing the difference taking just 1 hour a week for yourself can make. Over my 14 years playing and working at the Sport and Social Club, I have gone from playing sports 6x per week in our highest divisions (and closing down our Sponsor Bars after Slo-Pitch games) to playing just 1-2 times each week; primarily in our Legends Leagues and I love it.

Legends provides an opportunity for us 35+’ers to stay active and social in an environment that really does bring together like minded individuals. Through my experience, I can confidently say that there are many benefits:

  • Sportsmanship is top notch
  • Game times are earlier
  • Locations are better
  • Skill levels you see are really evenly matched
  • The camaraderie between teams that I see in this league is really something special

I was lucky enough to meet a few of our amazing Legends players firsthand and it was incredible to hear them talk so positively and passionately about their experiences in our Legends League. I could go on and on about Legends, but why don’t you listen to what a few real Legends had to say.
