Drafted for fun, not millions!
ESSC Co-ed Draft Leagues allow you to experience the anticipation, fun, and glory of traditional sporting leagues such as the NFL, NHL, and NBA all in 9-weeks time. All players will strut their stuff in our organized skills competition and scrimmage before being hand selected by one of our team captains in the live draft. Once players are picked, your team will go head-to-head against other draft teams in hopes of prevailing as our Draft League Champions. Forget fantasy league, draft day is here!
Winter, Spring, Fall: 9-weeks
All teams play once a week on the day they select when registering.
Ball Hockey: 7:30pm to 9:30pm
Basketball: 6:30pm to 9:30pm
While our leagues are self-officiated, there is a Games Coordinator onsite to help manage equipment, time and scores. Games consist of two, 25-minute halves and a 5-minute half-time, and bookings are typically 1 hour long.
5 on 5 – Open – Premium
Games are played 5 on 5 (not including the goalie) with no specific gender requirements, at a premium facility. This means games are played on a full-sized rink surface and there are no stick restrictions.

Games are played 5 on 5 with no specific gender requirements.
Players are drafted individually. Therefore, this league accepts individual registrations only!
Skills Competition
Each player participates in a variety of drills to show their ability across multiple skills such as ball handling, shooting, offence, defence, and more.
All players will be given a sticker to wear on their jersey/clothes. The draft captains will observe you throughout the skills competition and scrimmage match to evaluate your skills and take notes.
Scrimmage
Participants will be split into two teams. Teams then go head-to-head in a short scrimmage.
Live Draft
The live draft follows the skills competition and scrimmage, with team captains selecting players based on their performance.
The draft follows a ‘snake’ format. The snake draft is a draft format where the order of selection reverses in each round. The team that picks last in one round picks first in the next, creating a back-and-forth pattern. This ensures fair distribution of talent by balancing early and late picks across multiple rounds.
Draft Party
All players get to attend a draft party where they can enjoy free pizza and Gatorade before the live draft begins. The party is always within the same facility as the skills comp and scrimmage, so all of the action takes place in one night!

The Games Coordinator (GC) will bring official game balls to the facility, including warm-up balls.
Players and Goalies are encouraged to bring their own sticks however, the ESSC does provide sticks at all facilities.
There are no restrictions on player or goalie sticks
The ESSC provides standard goalie equipment, including: pads, blocker, catcher, chest protector, helmet and stick. *If goalies prefer to bring their own equipment, pads can be up to 38” x 11.5”.
