The Legends Player of the Playoffs program is all about recognizing players who display great sportsmanship and positive spirit during their playoff games. This is a prize that is unique to our Legends 35+leagues.
How it works: At the conclusion of each playoff game, each team nominates a player on the opposing team who displayed great sportsmanship and had a positive attitude throughout their match. All nominated players are entered into a draw and one lucky winner is chosen as the Legends Player of the Playoffs for each Legends 35+ league.
Prize: Legends Player of the Playoffs winners are awarded a $50 gift card to the ESSC.
Thanks to all our Legends Player of the Playoff winners for displaying great sportsmanship even during the most intense games of the season!

Richard Van Soest
Team: Beach Bums Night/Div/Sport: Legends Tuesday Intermediate 4's Beach Volleyball Experience in the Legends League: Richard has played with the ESSC for 9 seasons, 2 of which have been in our Legends league. He has the following to say about his experience: "I chose to play Legends Coed 4s beach volleyball because I love playing outside on sand courts; it's the best way to enjoy the great summer weather in Edmonton. Coed Fours works well because I could play with my girlfriend and my brother and sister-in-law. Fun with Fitness is an important part of my life and I like playing with friends and family." |
Orlando Trulli
Team: Orlando's Magic Night/Div/Sport: Legends Thursday Recreational Floor Hockey Experience in the Legends League: Orlando has played with the ESSC for 29 seasons, 2 of which have been in our Legends league. He has the following to say about his experience: "My name is Orlando Trulli and I play for Orlando's Magic in Legends League. The appeal of Legends for me was the comraderie amongst the teams and fun first attitude. The best part about Legends League is the people...it's always guaranteed to be a fun and competitive game without being overly aggressive." |

Peter Petryk
Team: Individuals Team - The Empire Spikes Back Night/Div/Sport: Legends Tuesday Intermediate Indoor Volleyball Experience in the Legends League: I've been playing indoor volleyball with the ESSC for 4 years now and this was my first season in the Legends League. I found the teams more evenly matched, with a greater skill level. I had a great time this season with some hard fought games and would definitely join this league again. |
Jeff Grimson
Team: The Healthy Scratches Night/Div/Sport: Legends Thursday Recreational Floor Hockey Experience in the Legends League: It has been my pleasure to be able to play in the Old Farts league (since its inception). It is tiring for us old men to chase those young whipper snappers around. Mind you, I didn't have that problem playing goal and all, but I digress. The chance to play with like-minded players and the ability to share stories of various geriatric issues has been a true blessing.

Gregory Pagdato
Team: Setting Ducks Night/Div/Sport: Legends Tuesday Intermediate Volleyball Experience in the Legends League: Being someone who enjoys team sports and values teamwork, I couldn't say no when I was fortunate enough to be asked to play on a team full of awesome men and women. They are all players of the playoffs in my perspective and I am grateful to have played alongside them all. The close games, great rallies, and positive energy through competition was absolutely phenomenal. Thank you to all the players we have gotten to meet and play against and a special thanks to the ESSC Legends League organizers for all your hard work and dedication! Cheers! |
Carolina Diaz
Team: The Healthy Scratches Night/Div/Sport: Legends Thursday Recreational Floor Hockey Experience in the Legends League: I joined the ESSC for the first time in September and became a member of the rookie group on Facebook. A picture popped up of one of my friends with their Floor Hockey team and I thought it looked like it'd be fun! Immediately thereafter, I asked my friend all about it and I was on a mission. I started texting all my friends to see who would be interested in playing Floor Hockey on a 35+ team on Thursday nights.

Paula Vinnick
Team: Individuals Team - Another One Spikes the Dust Night/Div/Sport: Legends Tuesday Intermediate Volleyball Experience in the Legends League: I chose to be in the Legends league because I wanted to play with people closer to my age and ability. I was lucky to be put on a team with individuals who were awesome to play with and in turn, we registered as a team for the Winter season. I loved playing against all the teams in the Fall Legends league because we were all a bit older and were really there to have fun - and most didn't care if we won or lost! |
Chandelle Riley
Team: Individuals Team - Summit Series 1972 Night/Div/Sport: Legends Thursday Recreational Floor Hockey Experience in the Legends League: I first started playing in the ESSC in the Summer of 2009. Floor Hockey is definitely my favorite ESSC sport. I really enjoyed playing Floor Hockey in the ESSC Legends League as it's a great way to stay active and meet new people.
