Division Specific Rules
Recreational and Recreational Plus Divisions
- There is a maximum of 5 consecutive service points per server
- Jump serving is not allowed
- No back row attacks
- Liberos are not allowed
- There is no hard smashing permitted
Intermediate Division
- There is a maximum of 5 consecutive service points per server
- Jump serving is not allowed
- No back row attacks
- Liberos are not allowed
- Hard-hitting and spiking in a controlled manner is permitted
Intermediate Plus and Competitive Divisions
- There is no limit on the number of serves per player
- Jump serving is allowed
- Back row attacks are allowed
- Liberos are allowed, but not mandatory
- Hard-hitting and spiking is permitted
If two divisions are combined for a seeding round, the rules from the highest division apply
Summer 2021 Rule Updates
• Player Minimums – Removed the rule stating teams must play short an additional player if they do not have more than one female on the court.
