It's a big dill.
ESSC Pickleball is an action packed sport that combines elements of Badminton, Tennis and Ping Pong. It is a low impact/high energy sport and the rules are very easy to learn, which makes it accessible to players of various ages and skill levels. These Edmonton Pickleball Doubles Leagues are perfect for couples, friends, or family members looking to get active and have a lot of fun.
After your game, meet up with your teammates and other players to enjoy exclusive food and drink specials at one of the ESSC's many Sponsor Bars around Edmonton.

Divisions are based on the experience and skills of a team - not on their competitive behaviour! No matter what skill level you register for, all players are expected to play with a 'fun-first, winning-second' attitude.
Please note that our skill levels have recently changed. If you have any questions about the different skill levels or where to place yourself, just call us! The below divisions may not be offered every season or day.
Beginner (formerly Really Recreational)
This division is designed for new and developing players who are learning the fundamentals of pickleball.
Players may still be building consistency with serves, returns, scoring, positioning, and kitchen rules. Rallies are generally shorter, pace is moderate, and unforced errors are more common. There may occasionally be rule clarifications or brief stoppages as players continue to learn the game.
This is the right level if you are new to organized play, still gaining confidence, or working on developing reliable serves, returns, and basic rally control. If you and your partner can consistently sustain rallies, control pace, and execute strategic shot placement, you may be better suited for Intermediate.
Approximate DUPR Equivalent: ~<3.0
Intermediate (formerly Recreational)
This division is for experienced and confident players seeking structured, competitive play.
Players demonstrate consistent serves and returns, can sustain medium-to-long rallies, and understand positioning, transitions, and basic strategy. Dinking exchanges are more common, third-shot drops are developing, and overall court awareness is strong.
Games are faster-paced with minimal rule clarification. While mistakes still occur, players can generally control direction and pace with intent. If you are consistently executing advanced shot selection, applying pressure at the net, and winning points through strategy rather than opponent errors, Advanced may be the better fit.
Approximate DUPR Equivalent: 3.0-3.9
Advanced (formerly Recreational Plus)
This division is for skilled, competitive players with strong technical ability and strategic understanding.
Players demonstrate consistent third-shot drops and drives, effective resets, controlled dinking under pressure, and purposeful shot selection. Rallies are longer, faster, and more tactical. Net play is controlled and aggressive when appropriate, and players can adapt mid-rally.
Expect quick pace, minimal unforced errors, and high-level strategic play. This division is intended for players with a skill level who are comfortable competing in a challenging, performance-driven environment.
Approximate DUPR Equivalent: 4.0+
