Registration Info

Every season is a great season to play team sports! Registration for Tournaments and Social Events typically opens 1-2 months prior to the big date, whereas Leagues run with the 4 seasons and have set registration cycles. While exact registration dates and details vary, here's a general outline for you so you know how and when to get involved in League play.

There are only two requirements to become a member and join the Club:

  • You gotta be 18+ years old!

  • You gotta equip yourself with a 'fun-first' attitude!

.

You can always get involved, even if you don't have a full team to play with! When you hit that registration page, you can register as a full team, you can register solo and we'll place you on a team with other individual registrants, or you can even register solo and invite a few friends to play with you along the way.

Process
  1. Choose Your Sport: We have over 15 league sports that you can choose from every season, from worldwide faves like Slo-Pitch, Hockey, Basketball and Volleyball, to more niche sports like Bowling, Darts and Yard Games. We betcha can't choose just one!

  2. Choose Your Day: Choose the day your sport best fits your schedule. League teams play once per week on the day they choose when they register.

  3. Choose Your Division: Decide what skill level suits you (or your team) best.

  4. Register: Get your full team, you and a few friends, or just yourself registered to play–all online, super easily.

All registrations are completed online, so you'll need to create a profile prior to registering.

We offer over 20 Tournaments and Social Events every year - join in and help us put the 'Social' in the 'Edmonton Sport & Social Club'! Tournaments and Social Events are a great way to add more 'play' to your schedule, meet new people, and fill out that social calendar.

Tournaments are very similar to Leagues in divisions offered, timing, and your registration options. Like our Leagues, you can also choose from different skill levels and you can register as a full team, with a few friends, or just yourself. Plus, you don't have to be a League player to participate. Tournaments and Social Events are open to everyone, and are a great way to get a feel for what the Club is all about.

Remember to Register Early

All registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, which means players who register early will get priority when being placed in their league of choice. Some of our Leagues sell out really fast, so if you want to get in the game, don't wait. Plus, if you register your team in our Early Bird registration period, you'll be entered to win a FREE League team.

Registration Options

Depending on the League you are registering for, you'll have the option to choose if you would like to register a team, with a few friends, or just yourself.

Captains register a Full Team to build their own , complete roster and decide themselves how many teammates to include.

  • The more players on the roster, the lower the cost per player.

  • Full Team fees are paid for in full at the time of registration.

  • There is no maximum roster size for a Full Team registration.

  • All Full Teams will be required to have a minimum number of female players on their roster.

  • Full teams are responsible for their own roster composition and must ensure they have enough players to meet any minimum requirements on a weekly basis.

Roster Invites:

  • Prior to the first game of the season, teams must have the total number of players required on the court/field/rink confirmed on the roster in Homebase.

    • This number is sport specific and can be found on the Roster menu on the sport specific webpage in the Leagues drop-down menu.

    • If the minimum amount of confirmed roster players is not met, the team will receive a loss for every game played until the requirement is met.

  • Prior to the first playoff game, teams must have all players who are playing in the playoff game(s) displayed as part of the confirmed roster in Homebase.

    • If this requirement is not met, teams will receive an automatic loss and will not be eligible for the championship.

If you don't have a full squad, don't sweat! You can also register with a small group of friends or simply by yourself. Players who register together as a small group will always be placed on the same team–we will add more players to fill out the rest of the roster for you. If you register by yourself as an individual, we'll place you on a team with other individual registrants or small groups of friends to form the team.

The ESSC manages the size and composition of the final roster and will always attempt to build ideal team rosters. However, teams could include more or less players than the ideal roster size, depending on registrations in that particular sport or division.

Individuals who register as an individual for more than one league will receive a 20% discount on the lowest registration fees for each additional league.

Fees

The cost to play varies based on what you're registering for and how you're registering.

In a Full Team registration, the Captain pays for the entire team and teammates pay the Captain directly for their portion of the fee.

If you register with 2+ people, but not a full squad, the person who completes the registration form is designated with the very prestigious title of 'leader.' They pay a fee per person when they register and, teammates pay the leader directly for their portion of the fee. Register with 5-8 people and all participants get 10% off of their fees!

As an Individual, you fly solo on the payment. Plus, the more you play the more you save! If you play in more than one league as an individual in the same season, you will receive 20% off the lowest registration fee(s) for each additional registration.

Payment Plans for Full Teams

Full Team fees can be paid for in full at the time of registration or Captains can make use of our Payment Plans to split the fee over multiple payments. It's your choice as the Captain! Simply 'opt-in' to the Payment Plan during checkout.

Play Part-Time

Don't want to commit to a full season? You don't have to. Register as a sub for a casual way to get in the game!

  • There are no fees associated with being a sub; it's free!

  • There is no limit to how many leagues you sub for - sign up for one or multiple, it's up to you.

  • Sub registration opens after the registration deadline for that season has passed and remains open all season long.

If a team needs a sub, you will receive an email with game details - make sure you reply right away to confirm your attendance before another registered sub seizes the opportunity.
