Anyone who is new to Handball might notice that it has certain similarities to a number of other sports that we offer.
First, it is played (in our leagues) with indoor soccer nets for goals which likens it to Soccer. Once a player has a ball, they start to move like a Basketball player; you are allowed to pivot on one foot, just like in Basketball.
Ultimate is another sport from which Handball borrows some rules and strategy. Although in Ultimate the goal is to make it to the end-zone, players are still throwing the object in a forward motion to get down the court/field and score at the other end. Finally, defense in Handball is very similar to that of Ultimate, where players will play tight to others without encroaching them or touching them.
All of these similarities to other sports equal one thing: a great time. Handball is one of the newest and most unique sports that we offer, and it has been in credibly popular in its first few seasons. Thanks to the success of our Multi-Sport league, it looks like Handball will be a staple in the ESSC lineup for years to come.
