Many Canadians grew up playing street hockey…Every. Single. Day. I know people that claim to have played 365 days in a row. No matter the weather, they were out there playing. Whether you were the sniper, the dangler, the goon, or forced to be the goalie, playing street hockey with your pals was always a great time.
It’s not easy working between the pipes. As a goalie, the margin for error is slim and the potential for glory isn’t much better. On top of that, you have to constantly deal with your teammates and the ‘media’ calling you weird! Yes, goalies have a difficult job to perform, but you can take your game to the next level with just a few insights and tips and enjoy a new level of confidence in your game. No hockey fan can sit there and say street hockey was not a major part of their childhood. Fast forward twenty or thirty years and we reflect on those days with such wonderful nostalgia. It’s the same reason we love the Original Nintendo Entertainment System, Cabbage Patch Dolls, or even Pokémon for the younger crowd. It pulls on your heartstrings and all of us here at the Club feel the same way; leading us to think ‘let’s offer organized Street Hockey leagues for adults!’
There are lots of reasons to love Street Hockey. In a different article, we highlighted those reasons, which include but are not limited to the following: games are always played out of a full-size outdoor rink, no stick restrictions, hockey gloves are allowed, and it’s just so nostalgic. Another wonderful reason to consider Street Hockey as your sport of choice is (as the title would suggest) is the low fee.
