Hi ladies! All ESSC Flag Football leagues require a minimum of 2 females on the field at all times. In our experience, it can be difficult for teams to recruit enough females to play. Well, here’s a quick list of why you and your female friends should sign-up:

- If you register as an individual, the likelihood of being placed on a team is extremely high.
- If anyone is worried about not being included in plays or that they will simply be standing on the field as a ‘token girl’, this is not the case! In all divisions, a female player must be an integral player in at least 1 play of the 4 downs. An integral player includes:
- Being the quarterback on a forward passing play.
- Being the intended receiver on a passing play.
- Receiving a lateral on a play.
- Being the punter on a 4th down.
- Your teammates should treat you like gold because they need you in order to play! Finding new female Flag Football players could be challenging for them. In my experience, the guys on my team were very encouraging and supportive! If they aren’t, it’s not Flag Football that’s the problem, you just need a new team.
- It would be unfair to let the boys have all the fun! I’ve played in the league and can tell you first-hand that it’s a good time. I got a lot of exercise, learned a lot about the sport and felt pretty darn good about myself when I made a good play. I also sound like a badass when I tell my friends that I’m heading to my football game!
I could continue to list reasons why I think you’ll enjoy playing Flag Football but the truth is, the easiest way to prove it would be for you to find out for yourself. If you’re even slightly considering signing up as an individual or joining a team, just go for it and then decide for yourself.
